Bahia Honda State Park
On September 18th, 2008 we went to Bahia Honda State Park for a Poker Run to Key West.  Bahia Honda is about 38 miles from Key West.  They have water and electric hookups - 50/30amp.  There is a dump station also.  The sites are quite nice.  They are relatively wide but not so long, so make sure that when you reserve your spot it is the right length.  This is a popular state park so you need to make your reservations way in advance - like 10-11 months in advance.

You are after all in the middle of the Florida Keys.  The water is absolutely beautiful and the beach at Bahia Honda is probably the best in the entire Keys.  There is a boat ramp and some of the RV sites are along the water where you can dock your boat, if you have one, right behind your site.  Saltwater fishing and all kinds of boating from jet skiing to yacht sailing are available within a short distance.

The park is a pretty relaxed and laidback place.  The rangers are very friendly.  The nearest shopping is in Big Pine Key which is only a few miles down the road.  There are many interesting places to see in the Keys.  We went to No Name Pub on No Name Key - it is a very unique place and has some awesome pizza.  You need to "chill" in the Keys - don't move to fast.  Big Pine Key is also famous for key deer which are an endangered species.  You can however see plenty of the deer if you look at the right time and place - ask a local - we saw plenty.
