Curry Hammock State Park

Every year Peterson's Harley Davidson puts on a Poker Run in the middle of September which starts at their south store in Cutler Ridge and goes all the way to Key West - about 150 miles.  It is a great ride with panoramic views of the ocean and Florida Keys.  I go every year and stay in different places.  This year I stayed at Curry Hammock State Park.  It is relatively small and has only 28 sites.  The staff is very friendly.  Each site is seperated with vegatation and is angled so that you barely know that you have a neighbor.  There are 50 amp and water hook ups at each site.  The dump station is easy to get in and out of.  I stayed for a week and have learned to conserve with the gray water so I only had to dump when I left.

A quiet sandy beach and several hiking trails can be found in the park.  Kayak rentals are available.  The park is also conveniently located (about 5 miles) outside of the main part of Marathon with all kinds of great seafood dining and shopping.  There is a K-Mart but no Walmart.  Home Depot is just down the road from the K-Mart and there is one major shopping center in the middle of town with a Winn Dixie and a Publix.

As in other RV and camping areas in the Keys, you have to make reservations way in advance.  Since Curry Hammock is only a few years old, it may be easier to get reservations here, however, the early you can plan the better.

Curry Hammock is a quiet park in a tropical setting - definitely a place to consider if you are planning a trip to the Florida Keys.
