Silver River State Park
Getting in and out of Florida is a mission. Pulling a 5th wheel it takes a good 8 or 9 hours. There is a place that we like to stay at which is about half way and it is just outside of Ocala, Florida. Silver River State Park is in the town of Silver Springs, home of the famous Silver Springs Park and Gardens. The sites are extra large and it is woodsie. Each site has water and 30 amp electric. The dump station has two sides so two RV's can dump at the same time. There are some very scenic trails, both bike and walking, in the park. Also there is access to the Silver River which is a very scenic meandering river.
Right next door is Silver Springs Park which besides having some beautiful gardens and grounds, also has a concert series which includes some big name country stars as well as some old timers such as the Beach Boys. You can check out there concert venue at there website: Silver Springs.
There is a Walmart about 2 miles away and Ocala with all it has to offer is just a little further. The Ocala area has grown quite a bit in the last few years and the traffic is a little ridiculous. We have been there many times and this last time, it seemed that it has gotten out of hand. I guess you can't keep a secret to long.
Ocala National Forest is just around the corner. We had a pleasant motorcycle ride through part of the Forest and stopped along the way at Salt Springs. There is a great little restaurant there that serves some really good down home food.
