Key West is a different place. It is a place of contradictions. It is a family place by day (most days) and an adult place by night. It is clean and wholesome. Other times it is x-rated and sloppy. There are several campgrounds in the area. Boyd's Campground is in Key West - expensive and crowded. Bluewater Key is about 15 miles up the road (there is only one way up the road). It has large sites that are meticulously cared for with many amenities - many have their own chiki hut with a barbque and a wet bar - it is also expensive. Then there are several other parks north of that.
There are many, many shops, restaurants, bars, hotels, and historical sites to explore. Key West has many events during the year. Most notably, the Key West Poker Run where motorcycles start in Miami and work there way down to Key West and the infamous Fantasy Fest - an adult only week ending on Halloween.
Key West is a place that needs to be on your 'Bucket List'. Don't die without experiencing it!
